Synopsis

We had it all.

Money. Power. Love.

A future carved in stone. Until it all fell apart.

Burning in front of our eyes.

Drop by crimson drop we were shattered. All it took was

One second. One mistake. One life.

Our vows were broken. Our marriage was fractured.

Our love was scorched.

The only way to earn forgiveness is to sell myself to the Devil.

But how can I do that when I’m already married to a God?

Review by Tara

“You think you know love. You think you’ve got it all figured out. But it’s impossible to know it until you lose it all. Until all that’s left are the echoes of it filling the never-ending silence.”
As I was reading Scorch, I was trying to visualize the story and identify my feelings. And at the end, I discovered that Scorch is like an Argentine Tango. Fast paced, aggressive, sensual…mesmerizing.
“This is who we are. It’s who we’ve always been. We do favours in exchange for favours. It’s how we were groomed to thrive in this world. Our expensive education isn’t just a head start in life, it’s a bargaining chip.”
We are reunited with Leo and his high-priced gang of friends, all determined to seek revenge for the tragic events we read about In Burn. Christopher and Annabelle suffered the worst kind of loss, at the hands of someone else. Set upon ending this nightmare, they realize that they are stronger as a group than they are apart. Joining forces with their strongest allies, this group of friends must battle and risk losing more loved ones. While making this journey, trust and hope must be renewed in order to survive.
“Nothing between us. No walls. No pretences. It’s just us. People always say the truth will set you free, but actually, it’s what binds us together. Truth. Trust. Love.”
I love Alexandra’s work. Each word she writes is so raw and real. You cannot help but to get swept away while reading. Scorch is an emotional rollercoaster, filled with so much turmoil and angst, you will find yourself holding your breath while you read. With each character bringing a certain element to the story, you will want to dive deeper into each of of their lives. You must read Burn (book one in the Virtues and Lies series) before you read Scorch. It will help you get to know the enticing cast.
MEET THE AUTHOR
Alexandra Silva is a lover of words and romance. She blames the classics and a nutty English teacher for her obsession with books and fiction. Come rain or shine with either coffee or wine in hand you can find her with her nose stuck in a book and her head in the clouds. She lives in London outnumbered by her very loud boys, with her very own hero and their two wild cats—Jack and Jill.
