**Blog Tour** Spark in the Ashes by Nikki Groom

Spark in the Ashes (Steel Souls #1)

by Nikki Groom

Releases 24th April

Sadie Foster is consumed with revenge. The quiet beauty she portrays on the outside disguises the rage bubbling within her. Because on the inside, her desire for retribution dominates her every waking thought, until him…
Ramsey Dalton is an outlaw. A criminal that will do whatever it takes to get what he wants and to keep his MC brothers safe. He didn’t know there could be more to his life than sex, drugs and death, until her…
Their meeting is pure chance. Their connection undeniable. But what neither of them know, is that their relationship threatens to uncover far more than they could have imagined.
Secrets and lies are best left buried, but sometimes they’re too real to stay dead.

“Do you have any idea what you got involved in tonight, little girl?” His voice is low, dangerous, and for the first time since I woke, fear taps at each bone as it trickles down my spine and he moves closer. “I might not know your name, but I do know what you’ve done. What are you, some kind of femme fatale? You on a mission to rid the world of all the bad guys?” He chuckles to himself then stops with his body flush to mine. I hold his gaze, refusing to back off, feeling the fire in his eyes burning through mine. He strokes a finger lightly along my temple and down my cheek. “You got daddy issues?” he whispers.
“Fuck. You.” I shove at his chest, but he doesn’t budge an inch which only increases my frustration.
“Oh, sweetheart, usually I would take a girl up on such an offer, but—”

I bring my hand up to slap him, but he catches my wrist and grabs the other one in a flash, roughly pinning them to my side. “Oh no, you don’t.” He laughs under his breath, but his gaze is anything but humorous. “You got a lucky shot in last time. That kinda luck doesn’t happen twice.” He leans in close, pushing my hair from my face gently with his cheekbone and settling his hot breath over my ear. “Now, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. I’m not above binding you again—” He pauses, letting a few heated breaths brush across my skin. “So tell me, are you going to bend and comply? Which will make it so much easier for you, or am I going to have to wrangle your twisted little soul into submission?”

Our Review

Tara’s 5 star review:

“Parents and grandparents stay the same age for so long because we don’t want to believe that there will ever be a day when we’ll have to do all of this on our own.”
This books gave me all the feels. I was nervous, scared, upset, happy, destroyed.

Nervous, because reading this book and getting so wrapped up in it, I knew something was going to happen to cause my heart to break. At times I had to will myself to keep going. I was scared because I remember being in Abbi’s shoes, and seeing my hero, my grandma, struggle through something that made her seem so small and fragile. I was upset, because The Pebble Jar had me remembering what it was like to be 15, and all the coming of age stuff that a teenager endures, and all the heartache that comes with crushes, and unspoken words.

I felt happy because in that moment where you finally find yourself, you feel free. Reading Elliot and Abbi’s moments put a little smile on my face to remind me that I have come such a long way from that awkward 15 year girl I used to be. I was destroyed because I know what it’s like to have someone taken from you to soon. To experience something so heart breaking that you are not sure life can move on.
“We believed that the stories we’d written for ourselves were as inevitable as the sunrise, simply because we willed it so. After all, what could possibly stand in our way?”
I cried reading The Pebble Jar, to the point where I had to stop reading, because H. A. Robinson gave me all the feels. Her writing opened up some past memories, both sad and happy, and reminded me that in this life, there are ups and downs, but in the end, everything is as it should be. That all the things we experience happen for a reason. Just like me reviewing this amazing book. H. A’s writing did something to my soul, it opened me up and let me remember.
“Everybody needed somebody sometimes, and I was alone and lost, with no idea what to do to help the one person who still cared.”

Meet the Author

H. A. Robinson is a jet-setting billionaire with a home on each continent, who spends her free time saving kittens from trees and babies from burning buildings. A graduate of Hogwarts and a frequent visitor to Narnia, she drinks coffee in Central Perk and tames dragons in Westeros.

In her dreams…

In reality, she’s a support worker living in a small town in Cheshire, who would almost always choose fantasy over reality. She’s been an obsessive reader from the moment she picked up her first Enid Blyton book, more years ago than she cares to admit, and enjoys nothing more than getting lost in new worlds and adventures from the minds of all the amazing authors out there.

She’s had the voices of characters in her head for as long as she can remember, and puts them down on paper in order to convince herself and the men in white coats that she isn’t crazy.

Book #1 in The Game Series

What if right is wrong, and wrong is right?
Would you forget everything you believe in just to win a game?
“The two devils at my side taunting me with the pretty flames of hell, and all I want is to burn with them. To be owned by them, for what else do I have? Nothing.”
To me, this is the darkest book in the series so far. Tobias and Preston take Ella to the edge, and she’s not sure if she should jump or stay in a world where morals do not exist. Ella knows she should walk away, but with Tobias and Preston by her side, will she release her inner demons to win the game?
“How pitiful have I become to find salvation in men such as these. And worse, I want them. I need them and slowly, bit by bit, piece by piece, I’m losing myself to that.”
Stevie and LP have created a new genre with this series. It’s dark, twisted, evil but hot and steamy at the same time!  A perfect mix of right and wrong!
“With each second that passes with them I feel that they own a little more of my soul. And I want them to. I want them to own me, the deepest, darkest parts of me. I long to be unhinged in a way I fear I will only ever be with them.”

**Release Day Blitz** Twisted in You by Fabiola Francisco

Book: Twisted in You
Author: Fabiola Francisco
Release Date: 13th April
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Depressed, crazy, violent, angry, suicidal. Those are the adjectives most people would use to describe me. Ironically, the one that upsets me is violent. I’m not a violent person.
Am I depressed? Yes. Life’s a bitch, and she’s taken me for a fucking ride.
Crazy? I wouldn’t say so, although I can see why people would describe me as such.
Angry? Fuck yeah. I’ve got some twisted stories to explain my anger.
Suicidal? Well, maybe this one time. And that one time is the reason I’m here, telling you my story, from room 113 of the Chasing Freedom Recovery Center. Isn’t the name fucking peachy? Sit tight folks, you’re in for a dark ride.
I don’t have a problem. Drinking is something I do to relax after a long day of work, or a long day on stage. I’m not an alcoholic. I know what alcoholics are like, and that’s not me. (Not yet.)
Regardless, they send me to Chasing Freedom. (Again). They’re determined to heal something that isn’t broken. (Liar.) And I’m stuck with Red, hearing her lose her shit and tell me off in the process. However, one look into her eyes shows me her demons. Some I am familiar with, others I can’t fathom. I know darkness, but she’s pitch black, and I want to hold the torch and lead her out.

Buy the Book

I hear the heavy movement of boots, and I shudder at the thought of that darkness reentering my life. He slumps on the chair next to me. God, this can’t be happening again. I hate being here in this fucking prison, but it’s the only place I know evil can’t get to me. Now, there is the permanent memory of it sitting next to me.
“So, what poison got you locked up in here?”
I look at him blankly. “I don’t do drugs.”
“Then why the fuck are you here?” He spits at me, and I get a whiff of alcohol laced with mint on his breath.
I shrug, hoping he goes away. Hoping he takes the darkness back where it came from.
“What? You don’t talk?”
“I’m talking.” Leave me alone.
He looks over at my canvas. “That’s some warped shit.”
“Life is warped.” If he only knew how fucked up life is.
He’s an asshole brat.
“Only if you want it to be. So, you don’t have anything to share. Don’t lie. You’re in here for a reason. You look like you know some good stuff. I won’t tell anyone,” he smiles, feigning his good intentions.
“Fuck off,” I say looking at him dead in the eyes. I will not go through this again.
I catch a glimpse of his eyes, it’s hard to tell under the shadow of his cap if they’re green or hazel, but they look sad and angry. I can’t see the rest of him, besides a light beard that covers his face.
Nope, he doesn’t look like the devil, but I see the darkness that surrounds him. I try to ignore him and go back to the mindless painting I’m doing. I have no idea what is on the canvas, so I look up to see what’s so scary about it.
Shit. I never focus on what I’m painting with the brush; I move it along so no one bothers me as I get lost in my mind.
It’s him. He’s staring back at me, fury and hatred painted in his eyes, horns adorning the crown of his head and a malevolent smile plastered on his shattered face.
I drop the paintbrush quickly and stare in disbelief. How many times have I painted this? What the fuck has come out of me through that brush when I wasn’t paying attention? I stand up and throw it away. My scars begin to itch. I need something. I need a way to escape this. It’s too much for me to handle. I pierce my nails into my scars. The skin there is thinner, more breakable, fragile like me. Maybe I can gush them open and let myself bleed out of this misery.
“Mikayla, we’re not done yet. You know you can’t throw away your art. It’s part of therapy.” Here we go again with the same damn speech that painting will help me understand the reasons why I feel the way I do.
“You can take your art and shove it up your ass.” I storm out of the art room, desperately wanting to escape my own mind and memories. I thought life as an eighteen-year-old was supposed to be good. Time to be living your life, not escaping demons and living in a judgmental purgatory with other lost souls.

Tara’s 5***** Review

Secrets. They are the one thing to hold us back from freedom. But when secrets hold unspeakable things, you bury them so far down, you hope the never resurface. But the thing with secrets is, something will always make you remember what you’re hiding. Whether you like it or not, the only way to overcome those memories is to deal with them straight on, no matter how hard the truth is.
“Eventually, all roads led to hell. This hell is full of demons dressed as angels sent from the heavens, but if you look closely you’ll see the red-glossed eyes, the burning evil, and the possession.”
Mikayla is a warrior. There is no other word to describe her. What she has overcome is unthinkable; something no one should ever have to suffer. When her secrets begin to reveal themselves, Mikayla takes matters into her own hands; she tries to find her own peace.  Entering a treatment centre, the last thing she thinks will happen is to find herself, let alone meet the one person who can see her for whom she truly is. Tyler is famous, so famous, his secrets rule his life. Without showing the world what he’s hiding, Tyler shows them how he deals with it; with alcohol. Entering Chasing Freedom as well, opens Tyler’s eyes to something he never thought he’d need; someone else to lean on, rely on, to trust.
“I’m so tired of feeling so much hatred. I’m tired of fighting and losing. I want this over with. I’m tired of remembering. I want to forget.”
Within the first few words of Twisted in you, you are hit with a realism filled with fear and intrigue. I have never read anything so powerful before.  Twisted In You gave me all the feels.  I was upset, angry, happy, I even cried. Fabiola took topics so taboo and made them ok to talk about. The strength she gave Mikayla is remarkable. The connection between Tyler and Mikayla should be what all relationships strive for. I cannot like this book anymore than I do!  Def in my top 5!!
“There’s something amazing that happens when you connect with someone so perfectly. Whole yet not, like the yin-yang she always talks about. Able to stand on your own, but so much better when you twist to fit each other.”
If you or someone you know is dealing with abuse, please talk to someone. You are not alone.

We move quickly and quietly out of our hotel room, and Carson slips the key card into the slot. The moment he turns the handle, we are in the room. Senator Collins jumps with surprise at his hotel door opening, but surprisingly, James is still.
“Atlanta Police Department, you both are under arrest for solicitation,” Harrison says as he walks over to the Senator. Harrison begins reading the Senator his rights as I walk over to James. She is on her knees, and the sight is erotic. She is even more beautiful up close. Dark brown hair, deep hazel eyes, and a body I could spend all day worshipping. I’ve got to admit I’m a breast and butt man, and she does not lack in either department. Her breasts are pushed up nicely by her bra, and I can make out the outline of her nipples. Her butt is perfection. Just the right amount to grab onto. After hearing her earlier statement about light spanking, I think that would be something worth exploring with her.
I help her up, then pull her arms behind her back and put handcuffs on her. I would give anything for this to be the two of us, and for this to be foreplay. It’s so fucked up because I’m hard as hell from this scenario. I shake my head to clear my dirty thoughts as I begin to mirandize her.

Tara’s Review

“They push Mark down in front of me. I try not to grin at him. We both have a perverse sense of humor, and while we may die today, we are not going to die on our knees.”
Love can happen in strange places, and when you least expect it. This is the case for Detective Adam and Detective Ellis. During an undercover sting, sparks fly when these two see each other for the first time. But what happens when two people have ground rules when it comes to relationships?  And what happened when a series of tragic events tests these rules?
“Adam’s eyes are raking up and down, and I feel my body heating up under his gaze. Maybe this was a mistake. I should not have this type of reaction to a guy I hardly know.”
Melissa put a new spin on romance with That Night. Adding suspense, thrills, twists and turns, That Night keeps you reading. And don’t forget about the hot and steamy connections!  Melissa’s writing style will make sure you always remember That Night!
“I toss and turn, thinking about her and what it would be like to be with her. I know better than to act on those desires, but I can still have fun and flirt with her. Just maybe she will let her guard down for me.”

Review by Tara

On earth, we all go about our daily lives, working, eating, sleeping. But there’s a part of our world we don’t see. The stage between life and death. The Keepers, the Poochas, the Gate, and Death herself. Their jobs are to control the afterlife. To ensure that the ones deserving get to return to their lives, and the undeserving ones meet their fate with Death.
“I am now thirty-seven, and let me tell you, this world is anything but magical. My name is Dutch Mathew I kill for The Gate and I am a Keeper.”
In a deadly game of cat and mouse, Dutch finds himself chasing his most prized possession, Juma.  Dutch is a Keeper, and his job is to rid the afterlife of Poochas. Juma is the ultimate Poocha, skilled at bringing the Deaders home to their loved ones. But when Juma’s fate is decided, she must outsmart Death and her Keeper.  Can Dutch complete his one assignment where the poocha means more than the next kill?  And can Juma can survive the one thing that can end her heart and her soul?
“The path of nine lives, each filled with crossing the dead back to the living, each filled with power and love and magic, each filled with fear and loathing and pain. Because to truly live, one first must die, and my kind died nine times. Nine times.”
Dutch is an interesting read. The way Madhuri writes is intoxicating. It’s like nothing I’ve ever read before. The flow, and the adjectives used, sent my mind into a whirlwind!  I had to go back a few times to process what I had just read!  Madhuri sets up each scene with so much description, and feeling. Take your time with this one, it’s an intense ride!

Sitting in the park eating lunch, I can watch the kids play and hear the latest gossip from neighbors. Later, if I want, I can stop at Mad Jack’s to hear a local band play and get some dinner. Elkridge is a great small town where the sun shines 360 days a year and people do their best to make ends meet.

Would you tell us about your writing process?  It takes me awhile to write each stand-alone story because I am passionate about creating the very best stories for my readers. These contemporary romance books have complex plots and sub-plots and include suspense romance threads, with deep emotional women’s fiction elements, humor and even a bit of quirkiness. I’m so excited to see the 5-star ratings because it means I’ve created the ideal mix to provide readers with a few hours of enjoyment.

Tara’s 5*****Bare Naked Stars Review

Feeling alone is the worst feeling in the world.  But when you meet someone that fits in your life, giving them your trust and opening up is the biggest test of all.
“He sure liked the way her face contained a riddle he’d like to solve. She was scared, in control, and about to lose it, all at the same time.”
Ashley and Chase are from the same world, the Marines. Ashley grew up believing her Marine father left her and her mother for the job, leaving her to fend for herself when her mother passed away.
Chase never really had a family until he enlisted in the Marines. But losing his “brother” took everything from him. When Ashley and Chase meet by chance in Eldridge, can they both learn to trust again?
“He’d give anything to see her one more time-to hold her hand. He’d tell her he loved her. He wouldn’t hold back, or wait. He’d tell her with his entire being how much she meant to him.”
This is by far my favourite of the series. With feelings so raw, and real, Abandoned touched many real scenarios. Lyz is dynamic at describing the scenes in her books, they make you feel like you’re looking at a painting.  I also really appreciate two new main characters in this series. Ashley and Chase just click, and they way Lyz wrote their relationship made my heart sing!

ABANDONED: Frequently Asked Questions: (FAQ)
Sheriff Joe shows up in ABANDONED several times. Does this mean there are more clues as to who (OR WHOM?) murdered Sheriff Sam?
Absolutely. Joe is still trying to catch a killer, but he’s not the only character presenting clues in this book.  Don’t forget, I’ve slipped in a few red herrings to keep you guessing.
I was surprised to see a poem in this book. What inspired you to add it?
I’ve been writing poetry for years. The challenge was to create a poem that Chase’s character would write—something corny, simple, and amateurish. I didn’t want the poem to look like it could be a Pulitzer winner—thus you have Chase’s love poem to Ashley.
Where did the inspiration for Ashley’s father come from?

My father was a Marine. My brother was in the Navy. My husband was in the Air Bourne.  I have friends that have served in both the Army and Air Force. Basically, I respect those in the military for their sacrifices and challenges. While I know many military families move  as their assignments change, I’ve had two friends in my life where a military parent has chosen to create a stable base for their spouse and kids, and return home whenever possible. This type of arrangement is unusual, but it does happen. I wanted to explore the family structure and how each person must live with the sacrifice.
